Law enforcement collects data that shows where people last drank before receiving an alcohol-related citation.
This information helps identify training and resource needs for those who serve and sell alcohol.
Businesses with alcohol licenses receive support to understand:

recognize signs of intoxication
check IDs
refuse sales to minors

a breakdown of the costs associated with overpouring drinks.
Checks conducted by law enforcement where an underage person, aged 18-20, tries to buy alcohol using their own ID or no ID.
These checks help ensure that businesses do not sell alcohol to people underage.
When done regularly, they effectively prevent underage alcohol sales.

Community scans are conducted to monitor how intoxicating hemp/ THC products are being sold and marketed in Wood County.
Requires individuals to be age 21 or older to purchase hemp-derived cannabinoid products that have psychoactive effects.

Nicotine Prevention Alliance of Central Wisconsin:
Together we work to prevent tobacco use, reduce secondhand smoke, promote effective treatments for dependence, and address disparities.
State tobacco compliance program implemented in Wood County.
Tobacco retailer support/education available.
Tobacco/nicotine age compliance checks conducted.
Education is available to the community around youth tobacco/nicotine use prevention.

These campaigns educate and reduce youth access to tobacco, and addressing new tobacco product trends.

The PATCH Teen Consultant Program ensures youth voice is prioritized in adolescent health initiatives with the goal of improving the way programs, policies, and practices that impact youth are designed and implemented.
Teen Consultants are hired and trained to build advocacy skills and develop comfort sharing their unique ideas, perspectives, and concerns.
They bring youth perspective to the projects and initiatives of individuals, organizations, and systems working to improve adolescent health.

Recovery Support

Offers support for individuals in recovery.
Offers housing for individuals recovering from a substance use disorder.
Advocates for policies that support recovery and remove discrimination/exclusion of people who use drugs.

Peer support is offered by someone who has experienced mental illness or substance use disorder and has received formal training in helping others.
This person combines their personal recovery experiences with skills to effectively support others facing similar challenges.
Peer Support is offered for individuals in recovery from Pamela, a Community Health Worker and Recovery Coach from the Wood County Health Department.
