Volunteer Opportunities

Healthy People Wood County is looking for volunteers & community partners to help tackle this work. Below are opportunities for you to get involved!

  • Are you planning to be out and about in the community? Let us know what you see, hear, and find! We are always interested to know what’s new in Wood County.

    • IMPACT is working to prevent youth substance use.

    • If you see something concerning, take a picture (if allowed) and let us know more about the situation.

    • Substances of focus include alcohol, nicotine/tobacco, and cannabis (hemp/THC).

      • To share what you know or for more information, please contact us.

  • Support our work around substance use prevention, harm reduction, and recovery!

    Help promote various events and initiatives throughout the year by talking with community partners, hanging/distributing flyers and other handouts, and delivering resources.

    • Examples may include delivering promotional materials for spring/fall drug take-back events, asking local businesses to carry/distribute naloxone, hanging flyers for LifePoint syringe service program, or promoting recovery events.

  • Farmers Market runs:

    • June-October

    • Thursdays & Saturdays

    • 8:00 AM-1:00 PM

    Located along the Wisconsin River at:

    • 220 1st Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495

    Volunteers for the farmers market can choose to work either full-day or half-day shifts, assisting with visitor surveys, handing out giveaways, counting visitors, transporting goods from the market area to vehicles, and setting up and taking down. Market management will train and support volunteers.

    Full-Shift: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

    Half-Shift: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM!

  • This opportunity is for individuals who are 16-17 years old and have an interest in reducing youth nicotine use in Wood County.

    • These volunteers will work with public health staff to attempt to purchase nicotine and/or tobacco products at establishments throughout Wood County.

    • Volunteers will be trained on how to conduct checks.

    • Parent/guardian consent is required.
